A node is free: download the desktop or mobile app, create an account, connect. Encrypted packets tell the node where to send a request. Signatures from the parties decide whether it is forwarded. Operators do not see the operator's private activity. Reputation uses completeness, consistency, timeliness, and availability. Traffic is awarded from reputation and geography. Uptime boosts in the docs: Android 3x, Mac / Windows / Linux 2x. Android is also in the Solana Dapp store.
